What do the symbols on my mini split remote mean? ›

The remote will show whether the unit is in Cool, Heat, Fan, or Dry/Dehumidify mode by displaying a symbol (icon) at the top of the remote display. Cool Mode: Snowflake symbol. Heat Mode: Sun symbol. Fan Mode: Fan symbol (circle with fan blades inside it) Dry/Dehumidification: Rain Drop symbol.

Dead or weak batteries are one of the most common reasons for remote control failure. Replace the batteries with new ones, ensuring they are correctly installed with the right polarity. Sometimes, even batteries that appear to have charge left can be too weak to send a strong signal to your mini split unit.

What do different AC symbols mean? ›

These days, most air conditioners have more than just the sun for warm air and the snowflake for cool air. New symbols mean new settings to learn. The Sun: used for warm air or heat mode. The Snowflake: used for cold air or cool mode. The Raindrop: used for dry mode.

Most units will have a snow flake or ice symbol for the COOL mode. This mode is used to cool the room and would typically be used during summer. The sun symbol represents HEAT mode. This is the opposite of the cool mode and is used to heat the room, usually during the cooler winter months.

Using AUTO CHANGEOVER on multi-zone applications could set an indoor unit to STANDBY mode, indicated with two dashes (--) on the display, which will turn off the indoor unit until all the indoor units are in the same mode (COOLING or HEATING). HEATING is the system's priority mode.
